The Northeast Comprehensive Center’s (NCC) Innovations in Learning Team was asked to assist NYSED’s Educational Design and Technology team in the development and distribution of resources to support and strengthen school library programs. NYSED specifically requested support in updating the resource webpages supporting the implementation of the School Library Media Program Evaluation (SLMPE) rubric.

NCC provided guidance for a new design of the webpages, assisted in updating the webpages with new content and new delivery to make it more engaging, and updated the process for administrators to enhance the use of the webpages.

NCC facilitated conversations among national and local school library organization leaders, school library media specialists, and educators to update the resources and make them relevant to the professional community.

NCC also supported NYSED in the development in an action plan template that can be used to address gaps identified in the self-assessment.

With NCC’s support, NYSED has a new webpage design and revised and updated content to share with school librarians and administrators to help them build strong library media programs.

NYSED referenced NCC’s support with Action 2.5 in its Progress Report posted on the Educational Design and Technology team’s website: http://www.p12.nysed.gov/technology/library/SummitProgressReport_2014.html.
