On July 18 and 19, 2017 the New York State Education Department’s Office of Early Learning in partnership with the Northeast Comprehensive Center hosted the first Three Year Old Public Preschool Summer Institute in Syracuse, New York. Seventy participants, including teachers, program administrators, principals, superintendents and specialists from around the state attended the two-day institute to build understanding about child development and learning, explore how purposeful play is a key instructional strategy, attend intensive workshops about the early childhood classroom environment and the instructional cycle, engage in a forum for understanding administrative regulations, and learn from each other through networking and interactive activities.
