The Northeast Comprehensive Center collaborated with New York State Education Department’s Office of Cultural Education (OCE) to support the development of a website featuring: open educational resources (OERs), cultural institutions, educational news, and lesson plans that align to the Common Core Learning Standards.  Its goal is to provide a platform for cultural organizations, families, and educators to showcase, identify, and utilize culturally relevant and aware free educational resources around the New York State.

From its launch last summer until now, the website has increased traffic through NCC’s ongoing promotional work through bookmarks, Tweets, blog invitations, promotional videos, and monthly newsletters to New York educators and cultural organizations.  The NCC will also have an opportunity to showcase the website with OCE staff during the annual Uncommon Approaches to the Common Core Conference in August.

The presentation will demonstrate how to utilize the website and how to best incorporate the website’s OERs to create Common Core-aligned lesson plans that are culturally sound.
