The New York State Education Department (NYSED) School Library Media Program Evaluation (SLMPE) rubric helps frame a current statewide conversation among stakeholders as to the most promising practices for building strong school library programs, but there is mounting evidence that parts of the rubric no longer address some current practices and needs.

To support this work, NCC will manage the revision process and bring the field together to agree upon a new version of the rubric. As a long term outcome, NYSED will have a rubric that is current, meaningful, relevant, and supportive of student achievement and developed by members of the library community with feedback from a sample of intended stakeholders.
