NYSCATE held its annual conference last week in Rochester, NY. This conference was special because NYSCATE celebrated 50 years serving as New York State’s leading organization that shares emerging technologies and best practices in using technology to improve instruction.

The three day conference included hands on workshops, exhibitions, innovative and engaging presentation topics, and various social gatherings. Conference Keynote speakers included Margo Day, Vice President of Microsoft Education, and Jaime Casup, Google Education Evangelist.

NCC’s Innovation in Learning team member, Monique C. Morgan facilitated a session, titled, “A Plan for College and Career.” During the session, the audience was introduced to New York State Department of Labor’s CareerZone Informational Video Series that was developed in collaboration with NCC and WNET. Session attendees saw how this series can help support students’ use of New York State CareerZone and participated in a collaborative action planning activity through which they identified ways to use CareerZone with students. When asked how they would use the information presented, one participant shared that she would ‘bring CareerZone into her resource room to help with CDOS alignment and getting students a CDOS diploma.’
