The NCC is assisting the Connecticut State Department of Education in developing a monitoring and evaluation design for its statewide teacher induction program, Teacher Education and Monitoring program (TEAM). Through TEAM, Connecticut is address a critical factor, the lack of support for teachers, that studies have indicated is a prime reason for teachers leaving the profession.

NCC’s support includes:

  • Serving as a thought partner with CSDE to decide how best to oversee the effectiveness of the TEAM program and refine the monitoring approach;
  • Assisting in developing survey of the monitoring system to be used with all districts to measure compliance with regulatory requirements; and
  • Assisting in developing a monitoring protocol linked to TEAM evaluation processes.

The monitoring protocol is designed to ensure compliance with statute requirements and measure qualitative impact on practices of beginning teachers. More importantly, it will ensure that TEAM continues to meet the needs of beginning teachers is a high priority in Connecticut.
