By June 1, 2015, all states are required to submit a plan to the US Department of Education for ensuring that all students have equitable access to effective educators The plan identifies where gaps in equitable access to effective educators exist and how those gaps will be addressed. The Maine State Department of Education has gathered data and conducted a root cause analysis by convening various stakeholder groups in several regions of the state as part of their process in the development of Maine’s Equitable Access plan.

The Northeast Comprehensive Center staff is working collaboratively with staff from the Maine Department of Education in the design and facilitation of stakeholder meetings and root cause analyses. Maine, along with four other Northeast states, will participated in a one day conference on April 2, 2015 which focused on various strategies to address gaps identified through the stakeholder engagement and root cause analysis process.
