The NCC supported Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Office of Digital Learning in its development of a robust Sketchup Pro Support web page. In order to promote the use of the software license in the state, MA ESE wanted to create a new support web page. The new web page features information on obtaining an educational license for the software, resources for educators, technical specifications, and information on joining their listserv.

SketchUp Pro is a 3D modeling software application that is used extensively by schools worldwide. Although there is a free version of SketchUp, there is also a Pro version which is typically a product for which schools must pay. SketchUp Pro is used in many K-12 subject areas, from math and science, to computer technology and English, to architecture and engineering classes.

The NCC conducted research on The Sketchup software in order to collect information and resources to be included in the web page. An initial state scan was conducted to determine how other states were supporting districts in using the software. The NCC then coordinated with school districts and educators to gain testimony and insight as to how the software is used in the classroom.
