The Northeast Comprehensive Center (NCC) provided professional development at the second Technology Point Person (TPP) meeting for Rhode Island Department of Education’s Adult Education practitioners.  The presentation (found at this link) consisted of using the Virtual Learning Program Rubric to identify key elements of personalized learning in both traditional classrooms and virtual learning environments.  The participants developed a comprehensive list of evidences that teachers and administrators should look for in any learning environment (found at this link).

The participants then assessed their learning by submitting personal entries in their ongoing self-assessment journals.  They reflected on challenges and successes of the PD session, as well as assessed their immediate and long-term needs for the upcoming TPP meetings.  The NCC then encouraged the participants to collaborate with one another in-between the TPP meetings by using the online Professional Learning Community (PLC) created by the NCC (found at this link: NCC is working with approved PD providers across Rhode Island to have their resources cross-promoted on this platform.

The NCC posted an Enrichment Activity, which involved assessing an existing learning environment using the comprehensive list of evidence created during the PD.
