The Northeast Comprehensive Center would like to share the Rhode Island Department of Education’s (RIDE) goals and statewide events for Digital Learning Day 2014 on February 5, 2014.

There are several Rhode Island events posted to the Celebration Map. Digital Learning Day events include:

  • a school-wide twitter chat during lunch to discuss the effectiveness of Advisory programs

  • flipped lessons

  • students participating in a live poll over the week to share ideas about future transition to 1:1

  • a school-wide activity which will evaluate the use of digital media in and out of the classroom.

Students will also bring their own device to school, make videos, create podcasts, and use chromebooks, online databases, and credible found resources to research their way through critical thinking questions.

RIDE would also like to share that Alex Molina from the Providence After School Alliance (PASA) and representatives from the Providence School Department will be featured in segment five of the Digital Learning Day Virtual Conference. The segment is titled, “Going Beyond the Classroom:  Where Learning Happens on Demand.”
